BELAGAVI: Three persons have been arrested for the kidnap and alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl for two months. Police rescued the survivor from the clutches of her captors at Azam Nagar on Monday.Gopal Punappa Parawadkar, Ashok Balram Naik and Ramesh Mallikarjun Chougala have been arrested and booked under the Pocso Act.
The girl, a resident of Nagurada village in Khanapur taluk, went missing on June 20. The accused Gopal and Ashok kidnapped her and kept her in the forest for two days where they raped her. They then took her to Belagavi city and kept her confined to a house where Ramesh Mallikarjun Chougala, another accused, raped her, police said.
Gopal and Ashok allegedly sold the girl to Chougala who kept her in captivity and raped her. Police traced the girl from the mobile records of Gopal and Ashok, who were their suspects. The victim has been sent for a medical examination.
