BELAGAVI: The district administration has banned digging of private borewells with immediate effect, implementing the government order passed on August 20, 2016.   This is following the death of six-year-old Kaveri who died after she fell into a dry open borewell at Zunjarwad village of Athani taluk.   Hit by drought and depletion of groundwater table, the state had virtually banned new borewells in 45 of its 175 taluks. North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation starts package tours to Gokak, Amboli waterfalls

Belagavi: The North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) has come up with a holiday package tour from the city to Gokak waterfalls in Maharashtra, which attracts thousands of Belagavi tourists every year.The tour, which costs Rs 160 per head, will be conducted every Sunday from July 17 to August 28, and passengers will be taken to Hidakal dam, Godachimalki and Gokak waterfalls with fixed timings for sightseeing.
